Tesla Discontinues Cybertruck RWD Variant 5 Months After Launch Amid Poor Sales: Report

Tesla has discontinued the rear-wheel drive long-range Cybertruck trim just five months after launch, Electrek reported. The $69,990 model, which offered 362 miles of range, is no longer listed on Tesla’s website. Only the standard all-wheel drive and $114,990 Cyberbeast trims remain available. The move comes as Tesla reportedly sits on more than 10,000 unsold Cybertrucks in the U.S., despite a shift in marketing to position it as a lifestyle product. Tesla’s U.S. EV market share recently fell below 40 for the first time since 2017, while European sales declined 40.2 in August as rival BYD surged 225 in the region. In China, Tesla’s Model Y L six-seater has received 120,000 orders since launch, and the company logged 14,300 new insured registrations in the first week of September, though sales are still down 12.1 year-over-year.
