Indore: A 21-year-old student, Kriti, from Malharganj, died on Saturday evening after a shocking suicide attempt. She had allegedly been under prolonged harassment by her boyfriend, identified as Harsh Pandey, which pushed her into depression.br br On Friday, Kriti consumed poison and set herself on fire at her residence. Neighbours rushed her to Bathija Hospital on Airport Road, but despite treatment, she succumbed to injuries the next day.br br Police said Kriti had previously tried to harm herself with a blade, knife, and even by opening the gas knob before taking the extreme step. In hospital, she reportedly cried about Harsh’s betrayal.br br Her father, Mangesh Soni, alleged that Harsh exploited his daughter and refused marriage. “She was under treatment for depression since February due to his harassment,” he said. The family also claimed Harsh’s friends threatened them at the hospital to remain silent.br br Harsh, originally from Bihar, studied with Kriti at IIM Indore. His father owns a medicine factory in Himachal Pradesh. Police confirmed a suicide note was recovered and said a case is being registered based on the family’s statements.br br Kriti’s tragic death has sparked outrage, with her family demanding strict action against the accused.
