The incident is now linked to the renowned environmentalist and educationist, Sonam Wangchuk. The CBI has initiated an investigation against his organization, the Himalayan Institute of Alternatives, Ladakh (HIAL), for alleged violations of the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA). Sonam Wangchuk himself confirmed that a CBI team visited his organization about 10 days ago, and that the investigation is based on a complaint from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
