Narasimha is a Hindu deity revered as one of the principal avatars, or incarnations, of the god Vishnu, the preserver in the Hindu Trimurti. He is depicted with a human torso and a lion's head and claws, and is known as the fierce protector who destroyed the evil demon king Hiranyakashipu and safeguarded his devotee, Prahlada.
