Hamas accepts first phase of U.S. proposed peace plan amid celebrations in Gaza and Israel

The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has confirmed its acceptance of the first phase of the peace plan for Palestine, proposed by the U.S. government. Celebrations erupted in both Gaza and Israel following the announcement, marking a moment of cautious optimism after two years of intense conflict. The agreement stipulates the release of all Israeli detainees and the withdrawal of Israeli troops to a mutually agreed line, enabling the entry of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian population. The ceasefire is scheduled to begin at midday on Thursday, with the signing of the agreement taking place the same day. The first group of prisoners is expected to be released on Saturday or Sunday. Hamas has also called on all parties involved to provide concrete guarantees to ensure the full implementation of the accord.
