Bhopal Shock: 22-Year-Old BTech Student Dies After Alleged Police Beating

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A 22-year-old BTech student, Udit Gaayke, died after he was allegedly beaten by police personnel in Bhopal early Friday, triggering widespread anger after a video of the assault surfaced online.br br The footage shows one policeman restraining Udit while another repeatedly strikes him with a stick. The incident reportedly took place around 1:30 am in Indrapuri, when Udit, who had been partying with friends, ran into a lane upon seeing police. He was then chased and brutally assaulted by two constables.br br According to DCP (Zone 2) Vivek Singh, the accused policemen — constables Santosh Bamaniya and Saurabh Arya — have been suspended, and further action will follow after the post-mortem report is received.br br Udit’s friends said he was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. They also alleged that the policemen demanded ₹10,000 to stop the assault. His body bore visible bruises, and his shirt was torn, they claimed.br br Authorities have stated that the case is being investigated by a City Superintendent of Police (CSP)-level officer, and statements from family members are being recorded.br br Officials confirmed that Udit’s parents live in Bhopal, while his brother-in-law serves as a DSP in Balaghat district.br br The shocking incident has raised serious questions about police brutality and misuse of power in the state.
