Gulliver Smith — The Bands Alright But The Singer Is… 1973 (Australia, Blues, Jazz Rock) br br The debut solo album by Gulliver Smith (real name Kevin Gullifer Smith), founder and lead singer of the Australian band Company Caine. His second album, Deux Poètes, was released under the name Gullifer in 1996. He died on November 12, 2014, from kidney failure. GULLIVER SMITH: The Band's Alright but the Singer Is (1973) br In March 1970, Smith formed Company Caine known as "one of the most adventurous, avant-garde outfits of the day." Smith then worked on his debut solo album, The Band's Alright but the Singer Is... (June 1973), with former band mates Arthur Eizenberg, Ernie McInerny, Russell Smith, Jeremy Noone (all ex-Company Caine), Bobby Gebert (Dr Kandy's Third Eye); and new associates Dave Conners on saxophone and Mick Tulk on guitar (both ex-Lizard). br The album was "basically a Company Caine album in everything but name. br br Tracks: br br 01.
