Kashmir Black Day: A Struggle Against History, Occupation, and Silence

br Every year on October 27, Pakistan and Kashmiris around the world observe Kashmir Black Day. This solemn occasion serves as a powerful reminder of the enduring suffering and resilience of the Kashmiri people. Central to the Kashmiri struggle is the demand for self-determination. In 1948, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) passed resolutions promising a plebiscite to allow Kashmiris to decide whether they wanted to join India or Pakistan. Unfortunately, this plebiscite was never held, and decades later, the denial of this promise continues to fuel feelings of alienation and conflict. For many Kashmiris, October 27 represents a painful reminder of a broken international commitment.
