US trade pact may indirectly influence semiconductor tariffs, Dewan Rakyat told

Malaysia’s commitments under a new trade agreement with the United States may influence future US decisions on semiconductor tariffs, even though the sector is not part of the deal, said Deputy Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Liew Chin Tong.br br He told the Dewan Rakyat on Monday (Oct 27) that any future tariff moves will be reviewed by the US Commerce Department under Section 232 of the US Trade Expansion Act.br br Liew said the Reciprocal Trade Agreement, signed during US President Donald Trump’s visit on Sunday, will strengthen market access for both nations.
