Rama Duwaji, the new First Lady of New York City, is an acclaimed Syrian-American artist and creative visionary. Born in Houston and raised between Dubai and Damascus, Duwaji’s multicultural background informs her art, which explores womanhood, identity, and mental health. A VCU and School of Visual Arts graduate, she has collaborated with The New Yorker, BBC, Apple, and Tate Modern. Married to Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani since 2024, Duwaji also helped craft the striking visual identity of his groundbreaking campaign.
