రాష్ట్రంలో జాతీయ, అంతర్జాతీయ స్థాయి క్రీడలు నిర్వహించేలా ఉన్నత ప్రమాణాలతో కొత్త క్రీడా ప్రాంగణాల ఏర్పాటుతో పాటు పాతవాటినీ ఆధునికీకరించేందుకు రాష్ట్ర ప్రభుత్వం కార్యాచరణ చేపట్టింది. ఇందులో భాగంగా విజయవాడ నడిబొడ్డునున్న ఇందిరాగాంధీ మున్సిపల్‌ స్టేడియాన్ని అభివృద్ధి చేసేందుకు సంకల్పించింది. 2026 చివరి నాటికి దీన్ని ఆధునికీకరించి, 2029లో అంతర్జాతీయ క్రీడలు నిర్వహించాలని లక్ష్యంగా నిర్ణయించుకుంది. రాష్ట్ర క్రీడాప్రాధికార సంస్థ(శాప్‌), విజయవాడ మున్సిపల్‌ కార్పొరేషన్‌(వీఎంసీ) సంయుక్తంగా ఈ స్టేడియం అభివృద్ధి, నిర్వహణ చేపట్టనున్నాయి. పనులకు రూ.53 కోట్లు అంచనా వేయగా, రూ.30 కోట్లతో మొదటి విడత పనులు ప్రారంభించనున్నారు. ఈనెలాఖరు కల్లా అధికారులు డీపీఆర్‌ను ప్రభుత్వానికి అందించనున్నారు. br br br The Andhra Pradesh government is gearing up to transform the state into a hub for national and international sports events.
