U.S. Pressure on Kyiv Intensifies as Trump Plan Sparks Major Rift With Ukraine, Europe | APT

Washington is reportedly pressuring Kyiv to accept President Donald Trump’s proposed peace framework by threatening to cut off intelligence and weapons deliveries, according to Reuters. Sources familiar with the discussions say the U.S. wants Ukraine to sign the agreement by next Thursday, echoing tactics previously used to push Kyiv into a rare earths deal.br br Ukraine has confirmed receiving the new 28-point draft plan but has not disclosed details. Early reporting suggests the proposal would require Ukraine to withdraw from remaining parts of Donbass it still controls, scale down its military, and abandon its NATO ambitions. Ukrainian diplomats have rejected several of these conditions, insisting they will not recognize occupied territories as Russian or limit the country’s security choices.br br European leaders have also voiced opposition, stressing that no peace proposal can bypass Kyiv’s or Brussels’ positions. The EU is now working on a counteroffer more favorable to Ukraine. Moscow, meanwhile, says there is “nothing new” in U.S.–Russia exchanges and that it has not been informed of Kyiv’s willingness to negotiate under Washington’s terms.
