Hungary Slams EU Over Alleged Ukraine Aid Corruption, Calls Funding ‘Hypocritical’ | APT

Hungary has launched one of its strongest critiques yet of the EU’s Ukraine policy, with senior officials accusing Brussels of failing to properly investigate what they describe as a major corruption scandal linked to wartime aid. Hungarian Minister Hidveghi Balazs demanded that the European Commission “take a closer look” at allegations suggesting 10–15 of EU financial assistance to Ukraine was skimmed off by what he called a “war mafia.” Minister Gulyás Gergely added that the push to make Ukraine an EU member state is “hypocritical” given the lack of transparency surrounding the case.br br The controversy comes as the EU considers raising another €135 billion to support the Ukrainian state and military efforts. Budapest insists no new funding should be approved until previous packages are fully audited and corruption cases are clarified. The political storm intensifies as Kyiv faces internal turmoil, with two ministers dismissed and reports implicating close allies of President Volodymyr Zelensky in alleged energy-sector contract skimming worth around $100 million.
