Nigeria has launched its new Counter-Terrorism Strategic Plan 2025–2030, marking a major shift toward a domestically driven security strategy after years of reliance on UK and EU support. Senate President Godswill Akpabio said the plan aims to modernize Nigeria’s security architecture, strengthen national resilience, and improve coordination. The move follows intensified pressure from the United States, after President Donald Trump warned that the US could intervene “guns-a-blazing” if Nigeria failed to stop mass attacks and kidnappings targeting Christian communities.
