Apple confirmed that Alan Dye, its head of user interface design since 2015, is leaving the company to join Meta. CEO Tim Cook said Apple remains committed to its design leadership and named longtime designer Stephen Lemay as Dye’s successor. Dye, who joined Apple in 2006, worked on major software design across the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV, and Vision Pro. He helped shape the first iPhone that removed the home button and introduced the swipe-up gesture. At Meta, Dye will lead a new creative studio focused on the intersection of design, fashion, and technology, according to Mark Zuckerberg.
