Indonesia: Death toll from floods and landslides rises to 837

Floods and landslides have left 837 people dead and more than 500 missing, according to the latest official data from Indonesia’s National Disaster Management Agency. Rescue and relief operations are underway, but teams are struggling to reach several villages on Sumatra Island after roads and bridges were washed away. Residents in need are receiving aid in shelters in West Sumatra province, where the lack of clean drinking water remains the most pressing issue after river contamination since November 27. Displaced families reported their homes destroyed by flooding and are being evacuated to shelters, while aid supplies are being distributed despite limited resources.
