Bemetara (Chhattisgarh): A wave of religious fervour swept through Khamaria village in the Berla block after villagers began worshipping a white owl, believing it to be Garuda, the divine vehicle of Lord Vishnu.br br The incident came to light when a rare, completely white bird was spotted on a farmer’s farm in the village. Mistaking the owl for Garuda, locals quickly gathered at the spot and started offering prayers. News of the bird’s appearance spread rapidly, drawing a large crowd to the farmhouse.br br According to eyewitnesses, villagers sang hymns, performed rituals, and offered flowers and coconuts before the bird, treating it as a divine manifestation rather than a wild animal. A video of the incident has since surfaced, showing devotees worshipping the bird with deep faith.br br However, the condition of the owl raised concerns, as it appeared visibly frightened by the crowd, loud chants and constant movement around it.
