Cambodia has firmly rejected Thailand’s accusations of targeting civilians, with Defence Ministry spokesperson Lieutenant General Maly Socheata insisting Phnom Penh’s actions were strictly aimed at Thai military positions. Speaking amid escalating border clashes, Socheata accused Thai forces of deliberately shelling Cambodian villages and using drones to strike civilian areas, claiming 11 civilians, including an infant, were killed. As both sides trade blame for violating the ceasefire brokered by US President Donald Trump, Cambodia has suspended border crossings and urged the international community to condemn what it calls Thailand’s unlawful military actions.
