Russia Warns UN Against Nazism Glorification, Slams ‘Double Standards’ | APT

Zabolotskaya, delivered a strong speech during the consideration of the Third Committee’s report at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, warning against the glorification of Nazism, neo-Nazism, and racial superiority ideologies.br br Zabolotskaya recalled the defeat of Nazism, fascism, and Japanese militarism through the collective efforts of the anti-Hitler coalition, emphasizing that the United Nations itself was born from this historic struggle. She stated that Russia, as a founding member of the UN, remains committed to preserving historical memory and promoting unity.br Highlighting Russia’s annual UN resolution on combating the glorification of Nazism, she said the goal is to ensure that racism, xenophobia, and discrimination based on ethnic or religious grounds have no place in the modern world, in line with the UN Charter.br br The Russian diplomat also criticized what she described as politicization and double standards within the UN system, accusing Western countries and the European Union of using the human rights agenda to pressure states pursuing independent policies. Addressing resolutions on Crimea and Sevastopol, she argued they do not aim to protect residents’ welfare and instead undermine efforts toward a peaceful settlement, including recent UN Security Council initiatives.
