Residents of London’s ‘most exclusive’ student accommodation next to the Shard kicked out of building plagued by problems as huge water leak knocks out electricity

Residents of brand-new luxury student accommodation have been told to leave their homes for months after a huge water leak knocked out power to their building.Students living in Chapter London Bridge next to the Shard, where rooms start at £500-a-week, have been told they will not be able to return to their homes until at least May.The 40-storey building, which can house up around 900 people, has been plagued by problems since it opened in September, residents told the Standard.They have complained about malfunctioning lifts, faulty water supplies, rubbish shoots not working and dodgy electrics.For over a week now the building has been without power after a massive water leak on December 11.Students were told on Thursday that they have until mid-January to remove their belongings so repairs can be completed.One City University student, who wished to remain anonymous, told the Standard he had paid thousands-of-pounds to secure accommodation at Chapter London Bridge for its central location and supposed luxury facilities.
