At the heart of this film, is a very simple story br br about a very complicated relationship between three br br very different people. People who meet by chance, and br br who, in less time than it takes to have dinner-- br br become a “kind of family.” From a structural br br standpoint, I of course considered “opening up” the br br movie further, ----“Why not see them go to the deli?” br br “Why not show Patricia at her gallery?” etc, but br br every time I tried to conceive the film that way, I br br seemed to be doing it for the “sake” of doing it----br br because convention seemed to dictate it. Butbr in the end, I decided to come to terms with and br br respect what I think the “core” of this story is: br br Three people meet, have dinner, and change each br br others lives forever.
