Auction of Madoff items

pbr There was a public viewing in New York on Thursday of items that will be auctioned from the former home of jailed financier Bernard Madoff's chief financial officer, Frank DiPascali.br ppbr High-tech televisions, arcade games and half a dozen off-road vehicles that previously belonged to DiPascali were among belongings that will be sold on Friday, with the proceeds going into a fund to compensate Madoff's victims, according to the US Marshals Service, which is running the auction.br ppbr Those who came to the showroom varied from the curious to the bargain hunters but all of them hoped the money raised would assist Madoff's victims.br ppbr "I hope the bidding's good, except on the items I want! And I hope that they would definitely go to alleviate some stress on some of the families that were victimised," said one bidder, Sharon Lee.br ppbr DiPascali, who was released on bail this week, is awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty last August to money laundering, securities fraud and other crimes that could put him in prison for decades.br ppbr As part of his 10 million US dollar bail package, DiPascali must remain under house arrest and forfeit all family assets, except for an agreed-upon dollar amount directed to be less than 300-thousand US dollars.
