Two French journalists from France 3 who were held hostage by talibans in Afghanistan for a year and a half were freed after months of negotiations. Herve Ghesquiere, 47 and Stephane Taponier, 46, had been abducted in December 2009, about 60 kilometres north-east of Kabul in Kapisa province.
