10 Years Later, 9/11 Responders Need Help

Our reporter spoke with some of these folks about their story—and about a new law they say is not doing enough to help the victims.br br [Ken George, First Responder]:br "When I got to search and rescue, I looked at the pile and I was like, oh my God, where do I begin?"br br Ken George worked for the New York Sanitation Department. Ten years ago, he was at Ground Zero. Staring at what remained of the World Trade Center towers—what rescuers called "the pile."br br [Ken George, First Responder]:br "Stuff like you couldn't imagine. Stuff that you see in horror movies. It looked like the gates of hell had opened up and swallowed the towers in."br br Glen Klein was a New York City police officer. He got there right before the second tower fell. br br [Glen Klein, Retired NY Police Officer]:br "We lost 23 New York police officers, but 14 of them were part of the emergency service unit that I worked in. These were guys that I worked with every day for years and years. We were like brothers."br br John Devlin was a heavy equipment operator who went to Ground Zero the next day.br br [John Devlin, First Responder]:br "I thought as I was going down there, I’d be lifting up debris and saving people. But when I got down there, the reality was, there was nobody alive. I was just going to give some closure to the people on the other side of the fence."br br All three men are first responders—the people who came to help with search and rescue right after the 911 attacks, and who stayed for months to clear out what was left.br br Now, ten years later, they've come to the dedication of this memorial wall at Responders Remembered Park in Nesconset, New York. On the wall will be the names of hundreds...
