Thousands welcome Jalil in Tripoli

Welcomed by thousands of cheering supporters, Libya's interim leader makes his landmark speech in Tripoli.br Mustafa Abdel Jalil was confident in his address.br (SOUNDBITE)(Arabic) HEAD OF THE NATIONAL TRANSITIONAL COUNCIL, MUSTAFA ABDEL JALIL, SAYING:br "It's a great honour for anyone to stand before this crowd in this situation and on this occasion and at a time when Libya and all Libyans gets rid of the tyrants."br Jalil arrived into the capital on Saturday for the first time since Muammar Gaddafi was toppled.br This is a move political analysts see as key to his credibility.br People waved the newly-adopted flag as Jalil spoke.br (SOUNDBITE)(Arabic) HEAD OF THE NATIONAL TRANSITIONAL COUNCIL, MUSTAFA ABDEL JALIL, SAYING:br "We are a Muslim nation, with a moderate Islam and we will maintain that you are with us and support us. You are our weapon against who ever tries to hijack the revolution, right or left."br Libya's National Transitional Council is still struggling to assert control over the entire country.br There remain a handful of stubbornly defended pro-Gaddafi towns.br Many senior NTC officials see the capture of Gaddafi and the members of his family, who are still on the run, as crucial to finally declaring victory in the seven-month old war.
