NEW YORK - The Derek Lam SpringSummer 2012 collection is a new take on his classic American sportswear, as he brings a little bit of the lady back to the sport. Mustard color leather jackets are combined with textured dresses and pencil skirts are high on Derek's radar as they are paired with transparent blouses. Derek brings a California vibe to the runway, but keeps it extremely streamlined and ladylike. It's not exactly surfer and its not exactly sportswear, but it is unique in the paisley prints category. Derek's theme for the collection is based on Richard Neutra's Kaufmann House in Palm Springs.
