Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas held talks with French president Nicolas Sarkozy and the United States' special envoy for Middle East peace, David Hale. Abbas said he was "ready to resume negotiations immediately" if Israel agreed on a two-state solution based on the 1967 border and to an end to settlement building.
