Turkey's quake homeless struggle for shelter

Hundreds of Turks queue for tents in Ercis, as the country reels from the impact of Sunday's devastating quake.br Over 400 died and tens of thousands of people have been left homeless by the 7.2 magnitude tremor, Turkey's most powerful in a decade.br The government has requested foreign aid to help provide shelters for families amid growing complaints of a lack of tents and other relief supplies.br The change of focus from rescue to relief comes as hopes of finding survivors fades and searches are called off.br But spirits were given a boost on Wednesday as a 27 year old woman was found alive amidst the rubble.br The rescue comes after a 14 day old baby girl was found alive on Tuesday, but officials say the chances of finding more survivors are slim.br Away from Ercis, the town hardest hit by the quake, the devastation continues.br Sixteen people died in this rural eastern village, where the majority of buildings were toppled by the tremor.br One resident here says they need government help.br (SOUNDBITE) (Turkish) RESIDENT, YUSUF HAKYUREK:br "I simply want a stable building from the government. We can't sleep in our houses. I'm 67. I'm ill. Even the stables for the animals have been destroyed. If the government could help us with this we would be very grateful."br The official death toll for the quake is around 460, but authorities say this is likely to rise as many people are still missing.br Simon Hanna, Reuters. .
