I remember when we filmed The Mambo Kings in the United States, it was my first film there, some colleagues said to me: 'If you are going to stay to work in this market, you'll receive offerings to work as the bad guy, because we play drug traffickers, thieves, those are our roles.' That is changing."br Meanwhile, Mexico native Hayek says she admires the strength of the Mexican people faced with violence.br Since December 2006, more than 45,000 people have died in the country's war against drugs.br SOUNDBITE: Salma Hayek, actress, saying (Spanish):br "I'm very happy to be here in my country. Obviously the violence is sad for me and for everyone but I also admire the spirit of Mexicans who continue to try and dream of a change, with optimism to improve the situation."br Over the first two weekends, "Puss in Boots" has made $114.5 million U.S. dollars in total box office sales worldwide.br Alicia Powell, Reuters.
