Brits win big at International Emmys

A big night for the Brits, as UK talent swept the board on Monday (November 21) night's International Emmy Awards (November 21) in New York.br SOUNDBITE: Nighel Lythgoe, American Idol producer, saying (English):br "Ever the bridesmaid, never the bride. Tonight's absolutely fabulous, I'm thrilled."br After being nominated six times in the past, "American Idol" exec producer Nighel Lythgoe finally got lucky.br An honorary award for his contributions to dance and performing arts on TV.br Lythgoe accepted the prize presented by Lady Gaga, who made a surprise appearance in a rather understated gown.br In the main categories, Britain triumphed five times, more than any other country that night but not as much as in recent years.br Julie Walters and Christopher Eccleston won in the best actor and actresses categories.br British series "Accused" was named best drama.br Other prizes went to productions in Belgium, Chile, Portugal, Canada and Sweden.br Indian media magnate Subhash Chandra, founder of ZEE TV, India's first Hindi satellite channel, received the Directorate Award.br SOUNDBITE: Subash Chandra, Chairman of ZEE Entertainment Enterprises Ltd.
