The British-born author and journalist Christopher Hitchens has died aged 62. He made the US his home and backed its invasion of Iraq. Hitchens died in Texas of pneumonia, a complication of his oesophageal cancer. A confirmed atheist, he publicly debated religion with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
