His trial was Friday.br br Zeng Hanlin, now 66-years-old, was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment and slapped with a two million yuan fine. He was found guilty of contract fraud.br br China and Canada do not have an extradition treaty, but Zeng was still sent back to China after he failed to appeal for refugee status in Canada.br br Zeng's Canadian lawyer, Daniel Kingwell, says his case could set a precedent for other Chinese fugitives seeking refugee status abroad.
