The Gerogians - Old King Tut, Fox Trot (Harry von Tilzer), Columbia 1923 (USA; accoulstic recording)

The Georgians were the Columbia house orchestra established in early 1920s as Columbia's response to the kind of dance music The Virgiunians prrovided for Victor. The exellent band, composed of such musicians as John O'Connelly (clarinet), Arthur Schutt (piano) or Russ Morgan was directed by Frank Guarente, who was of Corsican origin and later, he travelled to Europe and performed there with another band, while the original "Georgians" were led by Paul Specht. (They were Specht's big ballroom orchestra's sub-ensamble, meant to play jazz tunes solely in a bar). See more about them in my note attached to another 1923 "Egyptian" tune played by The Georgians, at http://youtu.be/QQHto_C2TXo In the photoshow are presented some sheet covers of other Egypto-mania hits of that time.
