The Iraqi journalist who threw his shoes at George Bush, the former US president, has been sentenced to three years in jail.br br His defence lawyer says Muntadher al-Zaidi was making a legitimate protest against the occupation and should never have been treated as a criminal.br br Al-Zaidi's action drew praise and condemnation, both inside and outside Iraq.
