Black Market Organ Dangers

Black Market Organ Dangers

Dr. David Samadi, leading prostate cancer surgeon, discusses the highly dangerous practice of black market organ transplants. Of the 107,000 organ transplants performed in 2010, ten percent of them were done using black market organs. The highly dangerous and illegal practice is often performed in countries such as India, China, and the Philippines were the poverty-stricken sell organs for thousands of dollars. Dr. Samadi points out that 86 of patients who have transplants at these transplant tourism resorts experience a deterioration of health after the transplant. In the U.S. the transplant wait list works off a very fair and safe system bases on severity of need and organ compatibility. Common transplants include kidney transplants, liver transplants, and heart transplants.
