In a surprise announcement, President Barack Obama has nominated Jim Yong Kim as the US candidate for chief of the World Bank.br br Even so, it is going to be a tough path for South Korean-born Kim, an expert on global health affairs, on the way to the world financial institution's top post.br br Now more than sixty years after the creation of International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, popularly known as the World Bank, developing countries are mounting their claim to the top spot, which has always remained with the US.br br Al Jazeera's John Terrett reports from Washington, DC.
