With her seventh album The Foundling, the 48 year old American singer-songwiter Mary Gauthier was finally able to get over the trauma of her youth. Her mother, who she never knew, left her at birth so she grew up in an orphanage. "I couldn't leave it behind, until I understood it. And I couldn't understand it until I wrote about it", says the country musician.
