Legendary British rockers The Who will hit the road for their first North American concert tour in four years, playing the entire rock opera "Quadrophenia" alongside other memorable hits, the band said on Wednesday.

The road trip starts in Florida on November 1, and features founding members Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend.

SOUNDBITE (English) PETE TOWNSHEND ON CONNECTING WITH HIS AUDIENCE, SAYING:

"But, what still delights me is that is still connects with people. There is a new audience that comes to it for obvious reasons, it is a story about the travails of being young. But, also there is a poignancy that we get from the older fans of "Quadrophenia," people that could be our age or even a little younger or sometimes even a little older, who reconnect with 'Quadrophenia' without there being nostalgia."

The band is best know for "Tommy," the 1969 work that is the first rock opera.

The band followed "Tommy" with "Quadrophenia" (1973), a musical tale of a young boy's coming of age that is considered a rock classic.
