Romney meets Palestinian PM Fayyad

ROUGH CUT - NO REPORTER NARRATIONbr br U.S. Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney met with Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad Sunday (July 29) in Jerusalem.br br The meeting came shortly after Romney met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem. .br br Romney's visit to Israel gives him the opportunity to appeal to both Jewish voters and pro-Israel evangelical voters and contrast himself with Obama, who has a strained relationship with Netanyahu.br br Romney has sharply criticized Obama's handling of Iran as not being tough enough.br br After his meeting with Netanyahu, Romney met with President Shimon Peres, opposition head Shaul Mofaz and Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad.br br During a photo opportunity with reporters, Romney briefly chatted with Fayyad about the Olympics.br br "An entertaining and delightful opening ceremonies. Wasn't it spectacular?," said Romney.br br Jerusalem is the second leg of a trip Romney hopes will display his foreign policy credentials in his race to unseat President Barack Obama in the Nov. 6 election.
