Panama marked 98 years this week since the opening of the Panama canal, a vital trade route connecting the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. The authority which runs the canal is currently building a third channel, in order to allow the world's largest container ships to pass through - but not everyone is convinced it will bring the desired economic benefits.
