AU troops take strategic Somalia town

African Union and Somali troops have seized the Al-Shabab stronghold of Afgoye near the capital Mogadishu, from which the al-Qaeda-linked fighters were pushed out last August.br br The Afgoye corridor has the world's largest concentration of internally displaced people, and thousands of people have been seen fleeing from the town as fighting continues.br br Afgoye is at a strategic junction for the north, west and south of the country.br br Lieutenant Colonel Paddy Ankunda is the spokesman for the African Union mission in Somalia (AMISOM).
