Libya's Bani Walid saw fierce clashes on Sunday between pro-government forces and fighters described by authorities as criminals and loyalists of Moamer Kadhafi's ousted regime. The hilltop town  southeast of Tripoli has faced the threat of an all-out assault since the death of a former rebel from Misrata, who was kidnapped and allegedly tortured there.
