A man dangles from the 10th storey window of a Karachi office building - desperately trying to escape a fire raging inside.

He clung here for nearly 10 minutes - but eventually he loses his grip.....

Tragically, the man was later pronounced dead in hospital.

One witness who works in the building said people panicked when the fire broke out.

(SOUNDBITE) (Urdu) ADVOCATE WHO WORKS IN A LEGAL FIRM LOCATED IN THE BUILDING, NADEEM SHEIKH, SAYING:

"We have always demanded from the government to ensure that all buildings have several exit points. This building had exit points, so hundreds of people were saved. The fire brigade had arrived, but because the room was filled with smoke and because of panic, the man's hands slipped and he fell."

Local media said the young man was in the office building for a job interview.
