When planning out your social Media Marketing strategy it's important to consider another platform first.
That's right. The guy who's been telling you that social media marketing is the most impactful development since the industrial revolution is now telling you to go somewhere OUTSIDE the social spaces. 66% of Americans use local searches, those are searches with a location name or zip code, to find local businesses.

Search Engines are still the #1 primary source for local business searches. A full 70 percent of online searches are still made on search engines and according to Google 20% of those are searching for local results!
With upwards of 5 Billion (That's billion with a B) searches performed on Google every single day that equates to about a billion searches looking specifically for local results.
With 82% of local searches being followed up by the consumer with a visit, a phone call or some online communication, to a local business, you're really missing the boat if you're NOT tapped into this powerful tactic.

Of this post-search follow up that I'm talking about, 38% results in a visit to your brick and mortar location, 29% will call you, and only 12% will chose to message you online. So most of this traffic is generate without the business owner even knowing where it came from!
For you restaurateurs out there local mobile searches related to restaurants have a conversion rate of 90% with 64% converting within the hour!
And for the car dealers, 49% of mobile Automobile searchers (almost all local by definition) buy a car within 24 hours!
Keep in mind the more you get your link out there, and the richer your content the higher you'll rank in these local searches. So register with every local directory you can find, and build a rich profile.
