Youll want to stop the freezing process before the entire cooler is frozen solid, because then youve just made a big old ice cube. The best way we found to halt the method was to set a reminder in our calendar so we could catch it before the water completely froze.\r

The cutting is the easiest part, youll need a bread knife and a rubber mallet. A few things to keep in mind is to temper your ice, leave it out for ten minutes to get it out of the cooler and leave it out for ten minutes when you re-freeze the ice to use later.\r

Get a ziplock freezer bag to store the ice, keep it from evaporating and starting to take on the scent of the freezer. Then you can pull the bag out and leave it on the table for ten minutes to temper.\r
