The Ontario Fire Marshall will be attending the scene of a fire in Blenheim to determine the cause of the fatal blaze that has claimed the life of one person.\r

Chatham-Kent Fire Service, Station 18 firefighters responded for a structure fire at 58 Nichols Drive in the town of Blenheim. Before emergency crews arrived, fire was blowing out the side of the house, threatening another home. \r

Firefighters arrived and began to tackle the blaze with two hose lines from the outside of the residence, working their way inside. \r

A side wall of the house collapsed where crews were working. No firefighters were injured.\r

Once crews had fire knocked down enough and were conducting a search of the home, firefighters discovered a female resident who was deceased.\r

It took about an hour to bring the fire under control.\r

A male occupant was home at the time of the fire. A witness who saw the fire helped the man to the road as he was exiting the home. It is not certain what, if any injuries the man sustained.​​
