Jewellery brand Kalyan Jewellers has withdrawn a controversial ad featuring Amitabh Bachchan and his daughter Shweta Nanda after protests from a bank union.
The ad has been criticised by a bank union for allegedly depicting banks in a negative light. The ad was Shweta Bachchan’s screen debut.
Following the ad’s release, the All India Bank Officers’ Confederation, an organisation that claims to have over three million members, threatened to sue Kalyan Jewellers for “casting aspersion and hurting the sentiments of millions of personnel”. The brand rejected the allegation, saying it was “pure fiction.”
