This Mughal garden complex in Lahore, Pakistan (Urdu: Shalamar Bagh, romanized as Shalimar Bagh) is one of the most striking examples of Mughal architecture. One of Pakistan's most popular tourist destinations is the Mughal Gardens, dating back to the days of the Mughal Empire's artistic and aesthetic zenith.
Originally envisioned as a Persian oasis garden in harmonious harmony with the natural world, Shalimar Gardens were designed to represent a utopian earthly paradise. During the reign of Shah Jahan, construction of the parks began in 1641 and was completed in 1642. As the product of Mughal garden design at the apex of its development, the Shalimar Gardens were inscribed into the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1981.
