Mexican armed forces and federal police patrol ranches in the north of Mexico believed to have been used by the Zetas drug cartel.
After several days of co-ordinated police and military operations, police Saturday swooped on several ranches in Nuevo Leon believed to be training centres and storage facilities for drugs and weapons.
At least nine suspected cartel members were killed in the firefights.
The Mexican army presented 11 captives to the media at a news conference - including the man known as "El Chabelo", an alleged boss of the Zetas cartel.
Authorities also presented guns, ammunition, grenades, grenade launchers and marijuana seized during the raids.
Mexican authorities blame the Zetas drug cartel in the Nuevo Leon region for the murders of 72 migrants found shot dead on a ranch in August of 2010.
