The United States has moved against China over auto duties. It filed a trade complaint on Thursday to the World Trade Organization over Chinese tariffs on large US-made cars.

China imposed the duties back in December on SUVs and cars with an engine capacity larger than 2.5 liters. Beijing claims US carmakers have access to subsidies and sell cars in China under market value. The anti-dumping duties range between 2% to 21.5%, and cover around 80% of US car exports to China.

The complaint gives the US and China 60 days to settle the dispute. If this does not happen, either side can ask for a WTO resolution.

This is the seventh time the US has taken action against China over car tariffs. Previous attempts have all been successful.
